Do people even read the announcement or this thread before replying?
It's right there in the announcement.

Some of the anet bashing is justified, but this is just getting dumb.

This is exactly what the community asked for, and complaining about it is pretty lame imo. If you managed to experience the event last time and feel that repeating it would "cheapen" it, there's nothing forcing you to attend it again.

Fair enough. I stand corrected.

hi double gold plated one
they said it is a second chance for those who were unable to enjoy it because of the lag.
no new mask just a chace to enjoy it without the lag

Balthazar's Beard people! They could give out free Yeti minipets and you all would complain because its nut-hair wasn't braided. This is an unprecedented display by ANet to help people out that missed on something and this is the thanks they get.
I'm stocking up on creme brulees again, so I'm quite happy.

AWE!!! ANET AT LEAST OFFER THE 1st ORIGINAL DRAGON MASK for those of us that missed the first Dragon Festival but DID get to attend the 2nd one...
Sigh... I will never get an original dragon mask since I bought Factions so late...
(but this is good for people who want to attend the 2nd dragon fest that missed the demon helm...)

Ok, sounds alright of them giving others a second chance, yet a lot of people will be on vacation now or soon..
I'll bet that the same lag comes back for this weekend and it's problems all over again :/
on second tought i did manage to get a nice amount of cash from the event ^^, so wouldn't be that bad

Wow, I thought this was some kind of mistake at first, but I guess it's happening. It does make sense, as a lot of people experienced some pretty horrible lag during the festival, maybe it's a way to make up for those who didn't really get a chance to play because of that.
They could also be using it as a chance to hype up GW:EN. Maybe the earthquakes?

Arigatou, ANet! Can't wait for the redux! Games, quests, special missions, and more creme, sugar, and firewater than I can shake a stick at!
Good to know others will be able to enjoy the festival this time around, too. ^_^
I'm assuming these will be the same masks?

Great, a weekend of people frantically screaming and running around clogging up servers with the "ZOMG WHEN DOES EMPEROR ARRIVE?! IS IT THE SAME MASK AS LAST TIME!"
...and of course the people who dish out horrible insults to those people.
Should be interesting.

I did buy factions the day it came out and only took a 2 week break during the 4th cause of friends. So i to missed the dragon helm, i think its ridiculous that they had this event after the 4th and the first during the 4th and now are repeating again when people are actually available to attend. I think they need to start advertising events in emails to their customers so that we can prepare for the event such as asking for a day off work and such.
I want a Dragon Helm! its the last one in my collection!!!

Goodness, I want to make sure you all understand why we're doing this. I mean, it's entirely unclear isn't it? We just don't say a word?
Why, wait a minute, the reasoning is included in the news post itself!
Quote:
Because latency issues prevented some Guild Wars players from being able to fully enjoy July's Dragon Festival, we are happy to announce that the festival will enjoy a complete rerun the weekend of August 10th. Starting at noon Pacific Time (-7 GMT), you can participate in the Dragon Arena, Rollerbeetle Racing, Shing Jea Boardwalk, and the series of seven Dragon Festival quests. On Sunday, starting at 2:00 AM Pacific Time, you can participate in the special end-of-event finale that takes place every two hours throughout that day. And to make it even more cool, we're resetting the counter for territory changes, so that players can move up to four times between the different global territories. Check out the Dragon Festival Page for updated info about this month's celebration, and we’ll see you there!
|
Europeans, in particular, were not able to participate in the DF in July, or were so lagged they didn't get the drops, or found that the Dragon Arena was just unplayable. Now, with a global game, how nice is it to repeat the event for everyone? So that global guilds aren't in a "have's and have not's" position. So that people who did attend can, well, do it all again if they choose.
(Sorry for the sarcasm at the top -- sometimes negativity, especially repeated, unreasonable, and ill-founded negativity -- just boggles my mind.
On the other hand, thank you to the vast, vast majority who read, who understand, and who support the rerun of the event! )

I'm not typically the one to complain about stuff like this...but...this is kind of lame...
Well Timmy was in crutches last month during Christmas, so we're going to have a second Christmas for everyone because Timmy couldn't participate to the full extent that everyone else could.
It just seems wrong....

I get what you're saying, but it wasn't just Timmy. It was Timmy, Tommy, Tiny and, well lots of people really.
